Tyndale Vets launches staff wellbeing programme to support team health and resilience

Tyndale Vets has introduced a new staff wellbeing programme designed to support the physical and mental health of its team, recognising the unique challenges faced by farm veterinary professionals.

The Gloucestershire-based practice, which works across South West England and South Wales, launched the initiative with a dedicated Wellness Week. The programme brought together practical wellbeing support, professional guidance and workplace initiatives aimed at helping colleagues stay healthy, connected and resilient.

Activities included on-site sports massages, a Pilates session and a wellbeing workshop delivered by health benefits provider Health Shield. Team members also enjoyed healthy lunches, hydration stations, nutritious snacks and hot drinks throughout the week.

The initiative was spearheaded by Jessica James, PR and Marketing Manager at Tyndale Vets, who said supporting staff wellbeing is an important part of creating a positive workplace culture.

Farm vet and Director Bryony Kendall explained that the programme reflects the realities of farm veterinary work, where long hours, extensive travel and lone working can impact wellbeing.

“Farm veterinary work can be isolating. There’s a lot of time spent driving and working independently, so this is about reinforcing that people are part of a supportive team. Our aim is not to run a one-off event, but to embed wellbeing into all areas of how we operate as a business.”

Tyndale Vets also introduced practical measures for staff working on the road, including hot drinks vouchers for vets travelling between farm visits.

Kerrie Hedley, CEO of XLVets, welcomed the initiative and highlighted the importance of supporting veterinary teams.

This is a thoughtful initiative from Tyndale Vets and reflects the strong focus our community places on supporting happy and healthy teams in practice. A successful team directly translates into the high standard of care and service that clients receive.

Following positive feedback from staff, Tyndale Vets plans to continue developing the programme throughout the year, with further wellbeing sessions planned on topics including sleep, fatigue and resilience.

As a member of XLVets, Tyndale Vets is part of a community of independently owned veterinary practices that share knowledge, experience and best practice to support the future of the profession.
