Thrums Vets Celebrate 75 Years in Practice

XLVets Members Thrums Vets are extremely proud to be celebrating their 75th Year as an independent veterinary practice.
Thrums Vets has now grown to be Scotland's largest independent practice with 27 vets covering Farm, Equine and Small Animal clinical work.
Thrums Vets opened its doors in 1948 as a large animal practice, set up by Jim Baillie, a respected vet from Brechin to support local farmers.

Oakhill Veterinary Centre opened new premises this week, merging its two existing Fulwood branches, on Conway Drive and Watling Street Road, into a much larger central facility on Lytham Road, Fulwood, Preston.
Driven by their passion for providing the best care for pets and their owners, the Oakhill team has transformed the building from an old doctor’s surgery into a vibrant, modern veterinary practice, specially designed to keep stress to a minimum for patients.

The team at Bishopton Veterinary Group have come together to support Candlelighters, a charity dedicated to supporting families affected by childhood cancer by providing emotional, practical and financial support. They also invest in vital research to improve the outcomes and lives of children with cancer.
The team has chosen to support this charity as baby Arlo, the son of Katie who works in Bishopton's Client Care Team, is currently undergoing intensive treatment for Leukaemia.
Nathan and Ben complete the Magnificent Severn canoe challenge

Nathan Loewenstein, veterinary surgeon at Shropshire Farm Vets, and Ben Huntington paddled 115 miles of the River Severn in just two days over the August bank holiday weekend, inspired by the continuing impact of long COVID.
The journey began in Crewe Green, Shropshire and ended in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, in a two-man Canadian canoe.
Thriving practice in North Oxfordshire appoints new director

Hook Norton Veterinary Group in Banbury, a thriving practice with an equine clinic, farm department, and three small animal branches, has taken on Tom Righton as a new director. Tom has been with the practice since 2014 where he has worked up the leadership ladder and is undertaking an equine orthopaedic certificate. With Tom strengthening the equine side of the practice, Hook Norton is looking forward to a strong future as an independent practice. Hook Norton is a dedicated mixed animal practice and an active member of the XLVets community.

Shepton Vets celebrates 100 years of Independent Practice

XLVets member practice, Shepton Vets, in Somerset is celebrating 100 years of independent practice. Founded in 1922 by Tom Patterson, the practice has evolved from the days of Tom conducting his rounds on a motorbike and sidecar into a successful farm and small animal two branch practice with over 60 staff. To celebrate the centenary Shepton Vets hosted a large summer party, which previewed the book ‘100 years of Shepton Vets’. Further elements of the yearlong celebration include a 100km cycle ride and a farm visit ‘Tour de Yorkshire’.
