XLVets Team Supports Local Nurdle Clean-Up Efforts

Members of the XLVets team have been supporting local clean-up efforts following the plastic pellet spill in the River Tyne, which saw millions of tiny plastic pellets, known as nurdles, wash up on beaches across North Tyneside and Northumberland. These pellets can have a significant environmental impact, posing a risk to marine wildlife that may mistake them for food and contributing to long-term plastic pollution in coastal and marine ecosystems.

Based in North Shields, many XLVets colleagues live in the surrounding area and have volunteered their own time with family and friends to help collect nurdles from local beaches. The team also took part in a clean-up activity together, supporting wider community efforts to protect the coastline and local wildlife.

As a business based in North Shields, the clean-up effort struck close to home, with colleagues keen to play their part in protecting their local coastline.
