You’ll deliver consultations, support preventative healthcare, help design and implement advanced nurse-led clinics, and play an exciting role in developing our dedicated feline stream within our multidisciplinary small animal hospital.
THE ROLE
As our Senior Consulting Nurse, you’ll take on a department lead position — championing preventative care, building meaningful client relationships, collaborating with the first opinion and specialist veterinary team and playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of nurse-led services at Pennard Vets.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours across 4 days, offering an excellent work-life balance. The role includes participation in a rota with some weekends, bank holidays, and out-of-hours shifts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the nursing consulting department, setting standards and driving clinical excellence across nurse-led services
Design, develop, and implement advanced nurse-led clinics that elevate clinical standards and client engagement
Contribute to the exciting development ofa dedicated feline hospital within our existing site, helping to shape a gold-standard cat care environment
Deliver nurse-led consultations including preventative healthcare and senior wellness as well as dedicated clinics for medical management plans and post-surgical care
Supporting consulting veterinary surgeons during appointments, ensuring efficient workflow and excellent client experience
Supporting clients with empathy and professionalism, including during sensitive situations
Upholding excellent infection control standards
Take ownership of the in-house laboratory, ensuring accurate diagnostics, quality control, and efficient workflows
ABOUT YOU
RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
A genuine passion for client-facing work and building trusted relationships
A particular interest in feline nursing and cat-friendly care
Confidence running nurse-led consultations independently with strong clinical reasoning
Leadership experience or a readiness to step into a department lead role
Experience with in-house laboratory diagnostics and quality assurance
Enthusiasm for developing and growing nurse-led clinic services
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Calm, professional, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Passionate about animal welfare and continuous professional development
