Equine Arthritis

A Joint Approach

Arthritis is one of the most common causes of lameness in horses, resulting in poor performance, loss of athletic function and frequently early retirement.

What are the symptoms of Arthritis?

  • Behavioural change e.g. not wanting to jump.

  • Stumbling and tripping.

  • Abnormal shoe wear.

  • Increased time to warm up.

  • Decreased performance.

  • Warm, stiff, swollen or painful joints.

  • Lameness.

If you recognise any of these symptoms in your horse, speak to your vet.
