With a deep-rooted commitment to exceptional patient care and team wellbeing, we're now seeking a Lab Technician to join our friendly, fast-paced veterinary hospital team.

Whether you're already working in a clinical lab setting or are a nurse/technician looking to specialise, this is a fantastic opportunity to pivot your career while staying close to patient care.

About the Role

Location: Hook Norton, Oxfordshire

Hours: Full-time/ part-time, 30 - 40 hours/week (flexibility considered)

Reports To: Head of Nursing Services

You'll be hands-on in our in-house laboratory, processing a wide range of diagnostic samples to support our clinical teams. From haematology, microscopy and biochemistry to faecal analysis and urinalysis, you'll be an essential part of our hospital's daily operations — liaising closely with vets and nurses to ensure timely, high-quality results that inform care decisions.

We're looking for someone confident in their skills, proactive in their approach, and who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the lab, including stock control, machine maintenance and breakdown.

You'll Be a Great Fit If You Have:

  1. At least 1 year of UK experience in a veterinary or clinical laboratory
  2. A calm, focused approach with a keen eye for detail
  3. Strong time management and multitasking skills
  4. A positive, team-oriented mindset
  5. Clear communication skills and professional confidence
  6. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle due to our rural location
  7. Good IT literacy and the ability to learn and quickly adapt to new systems

What We Offer:

  1. Competitive salary starting from £12.75/hr depending on experience & qualifications
  2. 5.6 weeks holiday, increasing with the length of service
  3. Free Health Cash Plan & annual flu vaccination
  4. Enhanced sick pay and supportive family policies
  5. Access to a confidential Employee Assistance Programme
  6. Generous staff discounts on veterinary services and products
  7. A close-knit team culture with regular CPD opportunities and support
  8. Full training will be provided
