Job Role
We take pride in our role as a training practice. With our recent success in having our students qualify as Registered Veterinary Nurses, we are excited to be inviting applications for our next intake. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join us as Veterinary Nursing Assistants, with the opportunity to pursue their ambition of becoming qualified Veterinary Nurses.

Successful applicants will join us on a 1-year contract where you will be mentored and complete our in-house training programme, designed to give you all the knowledge and experience to work as a Nursing Assistant in a vet clinic or apply for a Veterinary Nursing college course/apprenticeship.

Upon completion of the program, we'll explore various opportunities tailored to your aspirations. These may include HNVG sponsoring your college education to obtain the Nursing qualification, continuing your role as an Assistant, or exploring alternative training pathways. Each individual’s journey is unique and we will work with you to find the path most suited to you.

The role includes assisting Vets and Nurses when in clinic and maintaining our high hygiene and infection control standards. It is a busy environment where multi-tasking, maintaining accuracy and responding to urgent requests calmly and efficiently won’t phase you. You will relish being part of a large, well-established team but also have the initiative to find things to do independently.

The ideal applicant will be flexible, diligent, a real team player and willing to get stuck in no matter what the task is. You will be able to self-motivate and use initiative to read the room and offer a helping hand. Experience with animals is preferred, and experience within a veterinary setting would be welcome; however, full training will be provided.

The Veterinary Nursing Assistant role is full-time (40 hrs/wk) and they normally work between 7am and 6pm plus a rotating twilight shift (6pm till 2am) and 1:5 Sundays. Our rotas are supplied well in advance and whilst you will be based at our Hospital predominantly, you may have some branch work too. Due to our locations, a driving license and own transport is essential.
