We are looking for an experienced equine vet to help our practice provide weekend event cover during the up-coming 2021 polo season. The role would be a fixed term, fixed salary contract, based in Windsor.
Subject to the loosening of current Covid restrictions, the successful applicant would be required to start in mid-April and work most weekends through until mid-September, leaving their weekdays free to pursue other interests and/or employment.
The role would be principally to provide emergency care and casualty management to polo ponies that are playing in matches and practices at local polo clubs and surrounding venues, as well as to promote and safeguard the welfare of polo ponies.
Experience of working with polo ponies is not necessary. However, experience providing veterinary cover at other equine events such as horseracing would be advantageous. Previous attendance of the ARVS casualty management seminar would also be beneficial but not essential.
The successful applicant will be provided with a fully stocked vehicle to use while working and receive the support of other vets from the practice also working nearby, although they would often be the sole vet at any given polo match. Portable DR, endoscopy, and ultrasound would be available when required.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside highly professional teams, including top polo organisations, management staff, stewards, ground staff and paramedics whilst also being part of our experienced and friendly vet practice.
