As an independent practice we are developing our team to continue to shape the future of veterinary services to the UK pig sector. The successful candidate will be passionate about livestock farming with a strong pig interest. Good communication ability, investigative skills and personal drive will be needed.

Our five vet pig team is widely respected for its long standing role as a leading progressive practice engaged at every level of the sector. Our specialised pig vets are widely regarded as industry experts and help shape the direction of the sector through a variety of roles as well as working with some of the most technically progressive farmers in the country. The strength of our farm clients both pig and ruminant is a key part of our success as they challenge us to develop with them.

The Role:
There are three distinct aspects to the role. The emphasis of which will be commensurate with the skills and interests of the
successful candidate. The overarching aim is to help us to continually improve our pig service to our clients.

Technical support on farm:

  • Sample collection
  • Farm staff training
  • Data gathering and dissemination
  • Liaison with the veterinary team regarding health plan delivery and follow up.

Field Trial Coordination and Delivery:
We have a number of farms who have invested in facilities in which they carry out a variety of farm production trials. Our team is set to play in increasingly important role in the delivery of these trials as we seek to continually improve health and management strategies on farm. Trial design, planning, implementation and assessment, including on farm measurements and delivery are all core aspects of this role – liaising with the resources within our sister R&D company RAFT solutions for epidemiological and statistical support.

Farm service Delivery:
Liaising with the veterinary team and the practice the opportunity exists within this
role to add value to our clients through data and information sharing – e.g.

  • Farm performance benchmarking
  • Health Program audits
  • Indicative salary: 25 – 30K commensurate with skills and experience.
