Do you have a passion for farm animal work? Would you like to develop your clinical skills and herd health knowledge in a friendly, supportive environment, within a structured learning programme? We are looking for new graduates to begin an Internship Programme in Summer 2021.
We are lucky to be a mixed farm practice with a wide range of ruminant work (dairy, beef and sheep) looked after by our 14 vet ruminant team which includes a wide breadth of specialised skills in a range of technical areas such as advanced reproduction, lameness control, nutrition, genetics and pathology.
Our four vet pig team is widely respected for its long standing role as a leading progressive practice engaged at every level of the sector. Our specialised pig vets are widely regarded as industry experts and help shape the direction of the sector through a variety of roles as well as working with some of the most technically progressive farmers in the country. The strength of our farm clients both pig and ruminant is a key part of our success as they challenge us to develop with them.
As an independent practice we are looking for vets who will help us shape the future of farm animal practice as part of our specialised ruminant and pig teams. The successful candidate will be passionate about farm veterinary practice with an interest in meeting the changing and future needs of our clients. Good communication ability, investigative skills and personal drive would be needed.
Our sister company RAFT Solutions provides opportunities for our team to engage in practical R&D on farm and keeps our team involved in some of the latest developments in farming and farm practice. RAFT also delivers our advanced reproduction services of ET, IVF, referral semen laboratory and associated technologies. Based at our dedicated breeding facility one mile from the practice.
Our service is also supported by our VetTech team which further broadens the service we can provide to our farmers. All of this is further strengthened through our membership of XL Vets – a community of independent practices working together to achieve best practice.
We passionately encourage personal development for the mutual benefit of our team and our clients as demonstrated by the many post grad qualifications throughout our team - multiple RCVS certificate holders, MScs, a DBR and a RCVS specialist.
A 12-month internship with us is ideally suited to anyone looking to make a structured and well supported start in farm practice with scope for subsequent progression. We are happy to offer single track ruminant or pig internships alongside our mixed farm internships for the right candidates.
Successful candidates will benefit from structured development in through internal and external CPD training with industry experts.
A mixed pig and ruminant role would also be considered for good applicants with a broad farming interest.
