We are looking for a friendly vet to join our 6 vet independent Farm Animal Practice on the Powys/Shropshire border.

The practice is situated in Llansantffraid, a beautiful area of Wales between Oswestry and Welshpool, within easy reach of Shrewsbury and Chester.

The practice has a good mix of dairy, beef and sheep work, with a modern well-equipped building including calf pens and a dedicated lambing room. Dairy and beef work are typically year-round, with the hands-on sheep work having a seasonal bias; with plenty of obstetrical and surgical work to develop your skills over spring.

We are lucky to work with great clients and family-farms, enabling good case follow-up, with the practice supporting this.

The practice is engaged with all current industry initiatives. We promote and encourage the use of grants/funding currently available for farmers, striving for proactive herd/flock health and management.

Vets within the practice discuss cases and are all willing to lend a second pair of hands, if ever needed. Tricky surgical cases can be tackled in pairs, with full support provided when required.

Further training and CPD is encouraged. We run a clinical club within the practice to further everyone’s knowledge, discuss difficult/interesting cases and maintain good communication within the practice; a great opportunity to learn from other vets with practical experience.

  • A competitive salary package is available, with a modern house included if needed.
  • Equally shared 1 in 6 rota, with a day off in-leu following a weekend worked.
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays.

You’ll join a supportive and experienced team, with support/mentoring tailored to each individuals needs.

This position is suitable for any vet who wants to concentrate on their farm animal veterinary skills; whether moving from mixed to farm practice, an experienced farm vet or a new graduate.

Please apply with CV and covering email to simonwilson@cainvets.co.uk Or for more information ring Simon on 01691828205 for an informal chat about the position.
